Today I consciously live in the eternal presence. The kingdom of heaven is within me and I live in the city of God. I am one with all other citizens who inhabit this celestial metropolis. Here, in true communion of Spirit, I find unity, peace and joy.

This is today’s affirmation from Richer Living.

I was chatting with a friend the other day. They are also a practicing Religious Scientist. We both keep camping chairs in our trunks so whenever we want to get together with each other or with another friend we can meet up in a parking lot or in a park and pull out the camping chairs and sit 8 feet away from each other for s nice socially distancing chat. He and I, absentmindedly, started getting into complaining about people not wearing masks. With comments like “How could there be so many people only thinking about themselves and not about their fellow citizens. And “ I’m sure no doctor saying ‘I don’t want to wear a mask today while I’m doing the surgery.’”

And then we both abruptly stopped, had a little smile on our faces, and I’m sure he felt as embarrassed as I felt, because we realized we had just joined each other in a complaining-fest. We weren’t even doing passive listening for the other to vent. We were both just complaining. And then……  I said something like, “you know, people that complain about having to wear a mask when science says you should, must really be experiencing a rough life right now.” Then my friend said something like, “and I want to know that everyone living in fear finds a little bit of peace today.” And then we went on a brief Blessing-fest.

Whatever you want to call what we were then doing, you know we felt better afterwards. And if we felt better, then our lives and the cells of our bodies were better. And since we know the law takes what we express and makes more….well, you get the picture. I know you get this reminder because it’s what we teach in our spiritual community.

So, for the rest of today, when you catch your mind or words “pointing a finger”, choose to catch yourself. And try pointing with a blessing or a kind word. Your word heals. Prove it today.

I don’t know you, but I love you.
